Capital Highlights The Texas House voted overwhelmingly to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton Saturday, only the third time in the state’s history that has occurred. The Austin American- Statesman and numerous news outlets reported the chamber voted 121-23 to remove Paxton, 60, from office while he awaits a trial in the Senate during a special session yet to be called.

Just in the last few weeks, I have seen people wearing T-shirts that say “Faith Over Fear.” I also saw this on a bumper sticker and on sticker on a back car window. That phrase has become such an important message, especially in the last few years.

A key House education committee adjourned last week without voting on a school voucher bill that is Gov. Greg Abbott’s top priority this session, the Houston Chronicle reported. Barring some unforeseen maneuver in the last week of the regular legislative session, the bill is effectively dead for now.

This letter to the editor is in reference to your front page article entitled, “Silsbee Council votes 4-1 to lease old city building.” It is my opinion that the article should have included information regarding the specifics of the lease. Such as: The lease is for two (2) years at the cost of $1.00 per year! The addition of those few words would have given the citizens of Silsbee a clearer understanding of the transaction and my “strong opposition” to its passage.
