James Reyes, Lumberton Raiders athletic director and head football coach for the past three years, is now on the job as the new coach and athletic director at Palestine. Reyes’ last day on the job at Lumberton was Feb.

LHS soccer beats LCM

Scoring early and often, the Lumberton Boys Soccer (8-1,11-4-3) took a 5-0 road win against LCM Friday night for their 8th district win of the season. Sophomore Andrew Hansen opened the scoring less than 10 minutes in off a pass from Jaxan Tallina (Jr).

Silsbee Tigers beat Hawks to be Bi-District champions

The Silsbee Tigers walked into the Montagne Center in Beaumont Tuesday night, Feb. 20, on a mission to continue their playoff run. They did just that by beating the Hardin- Jefferson Hawks 8240 with a great defensive and offensive showing by the Tigers. They were to advance to the Area Round on Thursday, Feb. 22, to face the Palestine Wildcats. (See separate story) The first period started in even competition until late when the Tigers went on a run with 8 unanswered points to bust the game open with a 1912 lead over the Hawks. The Hawks were having difficulties getting anything going offensively throughout the end of the first period.

Lady Tigers end season as Area Champs with tough 69-56 loss to Hardin-Jefferson

The Silsbee Lady Tigers were defeated 69-56 in a hard-fought regional quarterfinals game with the Hardin-Jefferson Lady Hawks Tuesday night, Feb. 20 at Lamar University. The game was to determine who would advance to the regional semifinals on Friday, Feb. 23. The game opened great for the Lady Tigers as they remained in the lead until Hawks senior Kendall Sneed hit a tie-breaking three-pointer to give the Lady Hawks the lead late in the first period.

Eight Lady Raiders get all district honors

A total of eight Lumberton Lady Raiders have received all district honors: They are as follows: Newcomer of the Year: Freshman Gracelyn Herrington First team All District: Junior Jaycee Spears and Haley Humble Second team All District: Senior Shelby Nagel Honorable Mention: Abigail Pressley, Arianna Brown and Halle Frank.

Monica Bottley, a senior basketball player at Silsbee High School, is the Most Valuable Player of the Year in the district. She is an outstanding player who handles the ball extremely well and has a great three point shot. She is small at about 5’3 or 5’4” and is an excellent person and student.
