The Save the Pines Project hosted Taste of Silsbee on Monday, August 22. The event offered samples of the food and beverages offered by restaurants in Silsbee.

There were 10 vendors on hand to display the types of fare they provide in their establishments. They included 1965 Mercantile & Coffee, Angel’s Florist, Cafe & Bakery, Gina C’s Catering, Joe’s Italian Grill & Pizza, Kat’s Korner, Kona Ice, Little Mexico, Ronnie’s Place, Sweet Cheeks Cafe, and Village Creek Coffee.

The event provided a great opportunity to get to know they type of food Silsbee has to offer. Plus, it supported a worthy cause. The Save the Pines Project exists to restore the Pines Theater.

“It’s going great. There’s lots of people and lots of fun,” said Elizabeth Balsano of Angel’s Florist, Cafe & Bakery.

There was around 150 total attendees according to event organizer Sonya Kelley.

“It’s a great turnout, and we want to thank everyone for coming out. We want to say a special thank you to Derek Billingsley for allowing us to host it here at the Silsbee Country Club. Finally, thank you to the restaurants that participated.”
