The South East Texas Regional Planning Commission is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste and Scrap Tire Collection Event on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Silsbee High School parking lot located at 1575 Highway 96 N. in Silsbee.

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., paid a visit to Hardin County last Thursday where she met with local officials to celebrate a few milestones with regards to Hurricane Harvey Disaster Recovery and to announce $23.8 Million in funding to Hardin County in mitigation funding for drainage and street improvements.

Emma Sanderson graduates in the top of her Hardin-Jefferson High School class and is a National Honor Society member. She has served as Drum Major for two years and garnered many awards through UIL marching events and as a twirler. She has placed at UIL Journalism, Headline, Editorial, Feature, and News Writing competitions going all the way to the Regional level and competed in various powerlifting meets.

The Resthaven Cemetery Association will have its annual meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Silsbee Public Library. New officers and board members will be elected and will take care of any other business.
