High-end electrical users could strain grid

The Dallas Morning News reported Pablo Vegas, the agency’s CEO, said bitcoin miners and artificial intelligence data centers going in across the state, as well as industrial growth in the Permian Basin, could create the need for a massive buildup of power transmission lines in the future.

Village Creek bridge overflows after thunderstorms soak area

The Village Creek bridge on FM 418 was under water for the second time in only a few weeks Tuesday. The Texas Department of Transportation (Tx-DOT) closed FM 418 between Silsbee and Kountze as swift running water rose to at least a foot or two above parts of the bridge up in the day.

Help offered for displaced flood victims

The Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) is offering assistance to families who were displaced by recent flooding in five counties of East Texas. The DETCOG Regional Housing Authority is accepting applications from affected persons in Newton, Shelby, Tyler, Hardin, and Jasper counties.
