Silsbee Little Theatre play to be on weekends in April

The Silsbee Little Theatre has changed their upcoming performance of their spring dinner theatre from “Beyond a Joke” to “Murder Me Once.” The show will be performed on remaining weekends in April by the Kirby-Hill House Players at the Silsbee Little Theatre. The play was written by John Rustan and Frank Semerano will be directed by Sheryl Brocato.

Property purchase, youth football proposals okayed by SISD board

The Silsbee ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously Wednesday night at an emergency meeting to approve the purchase of a new property. The property is on the corner of Woodrow Street and is adjacent to the playground. The property was purchased for multiple reasons, one of which is safety concerns in the area. The newly purchased lot is in between property already owned by the school district.

Out-of-control truck strikes three other vehicles on 96

An out-of-control cab of an 18-wheeler struck three other vehicles last Wednesday morning, March 27, just south of the Village Creek bridge on Hwy 96. The truck, which was carrying no cargo, was traveling north when it went out of control.

Six SHS Theatre Arts students win playwriting contest honors

Six Silsbee High School Theatre Arts students have been named as winners in the Texas Young Playwrights Exchange (TYPE) contest. The winners and the names of their plays are London Jessie, Project Astra; Azlyn Reid, Bourbon Street; Chelsi Busby, The Boat; Denajah Arthur, A Time and a Place; Makayla Brnes, Stars on the Water; and Sherlyn Lemus, Mean Math Teacher.
