Early voting in the Republican and Democrat primaries begins Tuesday, February 20, and continues through Friday, March 1. Registered voters in Hardin County may cast ballots from 9 a.m.

Forums reveal what state rep candidates agree on

Two forums have been held within the last seven days in which candidates for District 18 state representative have been on hand to answer questions. The first was last Thursday night at the Book Nook Inn in Lumberton, sponsored by the Hardin County Republican Women, and the second was Monday night at the MUD Building, also in Lumberton, sponsored by Raise Your Hand Texas, an organization supporting public education.

Man gets 60-year sentence for sexual abuse of a child

Hardin County District Attorney Rebecca Walton announced last Thursday that a Hardin County jury found Whitney Roy Coburn, 45, of Sour Lake, guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact relating to the sexual abuse of a 3-year-old male.
