NOLA WHITMIRE

Nola Whitmire, 94, of Silsbee passed away February 23, 2024. She was born October 26, 1929 in Caney Head, Texas to the late Zacryer Cheatom Gordon and Bessie Haynes Gordon.

Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 28 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery, also in Silsbee.

Nola was a lifetime resident of Silsbee and attended Caney Head Assembly of God for many years. Nola married the love of her life, Tommy Whitmire November 9, 1953, in Kountze. She enjoyed many hobbies including, fishing, and camping, but her absolute favorite to spend her time was to spend time with her family. She took great pride in putting her family first and ensuring they were each taken care of and well loved. Nola was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by both parents; loving husband; sons, Author Roy Whitmire and Edward Lee Whitmire; daughter, Darlene Whitmire; sisters, Lily Loftin and Mildred Treadway; and brother, Lawrence Gordon.

Nola is survived by her daughter, Annette Powell and husband Randy of Silsbee; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.
